Stillwell: A Haunting on Long Island by Michael Phillip Cash is a thriller thoroughly enjoyed by this reader. Shortly after the death of his beloved wife, Paul Russo begins having visions that lead him to believe that his wife’s soul is in danger.
Struggling to help his children get through their grief, he also has difficulties in dealing with his own. Returning to work as a realtor should be therapeutic for him, but when he is asked to list the Stillwell mansion, that is reported to be haunted, things get even more confusing Image may be NSFW.

He sees a connection between tragic events that happened to a couple there during the Revolutionary War and his current loss of his wife. Hoping to find answers by looking into the past, Paul is on a mission to save his wife’s soul and his sanity.
Stillwell is a captivating story. The love between Paul and his wife is endearing which makes her loss even more tragic. The ghostly aspects of the story gave me goosebumps!
Not only was there ghostly activity at the mansion, but the author also slipped them into other areas of Paul’s life, such as in his dreams. I found myself feeling chills even though it was 108 degrees outside. I loved having this reaction because it means that I was totally caught up in the story. Blending historical events with modern times really added a nice twist.
It was easy for me to picture the mansion in Stillwell because my sister had a similar home in Rhode Island. It also had a well on the property with a hidden munitions bunker from the war. This added to my enjoyment of the story, however, I think other readers will do fine with the author’s detailed descriptions. Cash does an excellent job of bringing his characters and his scenes to life making the story seem real.
I believe that people who enjoy paranormal mysteries with a touch of romance will love Stillwell. It is appropriate for teens and adults.
